Women scientists lament poor research funding

The pioneer President, Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World, Nigeria chapter, Eno Ituen, has lamented that women scientists in the country are finding it difficult to access foreign research grants.

This, she noted, was because of the erroneous impression by foreign donors that “Nigeria is a ‘rich’ nation that has the capacity to fund research and development.”
Ituen, who said this at a ‘Women in Science Summit’ in Abuja on Tuesday, added that this had led to the removal of the country’s name from the list of countries that should be given scholarships for science programmes. Read more
