In the 13th edition of its Webinar Series, the Nigerian Academy of Science convened experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore a critical topic: “Nigeria’s Energy Transition: The Role of Electric Vehicles.”

The session examined the global EV landscape, assessed Nigeria’s current realities and opportunities, and proposed practical policy pathways to support sustainable EV adoption as part of the national energy transition agenda.

Featured speakers included Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Council, Mr. Oluwemimo Osanipin, who spoke on government EV policy; Founder/CEO, African Motor Works, Engr. Mustapha Gajibo, who shared insights on local EV production; and Professor, European University Institute, Italy, Prof. Kenneth Amaeshi, who examined the sustainability and ethical implications of EVs in emerging markets.

The discussion was expertly moderated by Professor of Physics, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, Prof. Chidi Akujor, FAS.
