Organization of Southern Cooperation (OSC) Summit 2023

The Nigerian Academy of Science, as an Associate Member, participated in the 1st Extraordinary Session of the General Assembly of the Organization of Southern Cooperation (OSC). The OSC, formerly the Organization of Educational Cooperation (OCE), held this event from the 27th-29th of June, 2023 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was at this general assembly that the name change, from OEC to OSC, was voted on.

The general assembly brought together members states and associate members to deliberate and agree on key resolutions related to strengthening the OSC’s mandate to create systems that are inclusive and balanced, as well as generate prosperity for the people of the Global South and all of humanity. Additionally, on the 30th of June, a meeting of the Conference of Associate Members (CAM) was held to discuss the flagship programmes of the OSC. The Academy’s delegates included Dr. Oladoyin Odubanjo (Executive Secretary, NAS) and Miss Angie Olanipekun (Senior Program Officer, NAS).
