NAS hosts Post-Conference Capacity Strengthening Workshop

The Nigerian Academy of Science hosted a post-conference workshop titled “Essential Ingredients for writing Good Proposals” on the 14th of February 2024. The workshop which was held online, was hosted by the NAS Grants Committee, chaired by Professor Gabriel Ogunmola FAS, Professor Ogunmola gave the welcome remarks saying that the workshop was to strengthen the capacity of researchers to write successful proposals. The Academy’s Vice President, Professor Friday Okonofua, FAS, gave the lecture on “Essential Ingredients for writing Good Proposals”. In his presentation, Okonofua (Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Director of Grants and Research at the University of Benin, Nigeria) addressed rules for successful grant application, strategic communication with funding agency to achieve a win-win strategic buy-in, drafting appropriate and well justifiable budgets, among other issues.

The workshop brought together about several participants including Fellows of the Academy, researchers from Nigerian universities, Academy partners, and other stakeholders.
