NAS Exco Strategic Retreat

The Nigerian Academy of Science (NAS) was established in 1977 and incorporated in 1986 with the vision of an improved quality of life for the Nigerian society through the promotion and application of science and technology. NAS recently inaugurated her 18th President at an Annual General Meeting held in Lagos to lead her in achieving an improved quality of life for the Nigerian society through the promotion and application of science and technology.
On the 20th and 21st of February, 2017, the Academy held her first Executive Committee Strategy Retreat under Professor Kalu Mosto Onuoha, FAS as the Academy’s 18th President. (First of its kind every 4yrs). Professor Onuoha led the NAS Exco in Lagos to discuss his vision/plans for his tenure to tackle some of the main issues of meeting the Academy’s vision and maintaining societal relevance. The Academy’s strategic plan 2018-2022 was drafted at the meeting and the status of implementation of the existing plan 2012-2017 was reviewed. The two day meeting which was also attended by some staff of NAS highlighted overview of plans on the Academy’s 40thAnniversary and AMASA-13.
The NAS C Exco includes Professors Mosto Onuoha, President, Ekanem Braide, Vice President, Temitayo Shokunbi, Treasurer, Olusegun Ekundayo, Academic
Secretary, Physical Sciences and Adeyinka Afolayan, Academic Secretary, Biological Sciences. Also on NAS Council Exco are Professors Soga Sofola,
Foreign Secretary, Sunday Atawodi, Public Affairs Secretary, and Akinyinka Omigbodun, Chairman, Publications Committee. The Nigerian Academy of Science is dedicated to the development and advancement of science, technology, and innovation in Nigeria for the socioeconomic development of the country.
