Decarbonization of transport in Africa Working Group

The Working Group (WG) of Network of African Science Academies/InterAcademy Partnership (NASAC/IAP) was formed in October 2022 to produce a policy document on the decarbonization of transport in Africa which will aid e-mobility planning by African countries. Professor Akii Ibhadode FAS, a member of this Working Group, attended a meeting of the WG in Nairobi, Kenya between 11th and 16th of June, 2023. This meeting brought together experts made up of 10 members, drawn from a few African countries, to consider the reports that have been produced from the previous meetings. The
Academy’s Vice President, Professor Abubakar Sambo FAS, was among the experts outside the WG who made presentations at the meeting. Sambo’s virtual presentation was on activities of decarbonization of transport in Nigeria. The project is funded by Climate Works and the African Climate Foundation.
