20th Annual Meeting of African Science Academies (AMASA), Algeria
The Nigerian Academy of Science was at the twentieth Annual Meeting of African Science Academies (AMASA-2024), which was hosted in Algiers, by the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology (AAST) from November 26th to 28th, 2024. Representing the Academy was the Academy’s Public Affairs Secretary, Professor Jonathan Babalola FAS and the Executive Secretary, Dr. Oladoyin Odubanjo. Odubanjo spoke in a panel discussion in one of the sessions of the meeting and chaired another.
The conference themed “Resources, Science, and Technology for Development in Africa,” featured three sub-themes. They are ensuring One Health in Africa: Mathematical, numerical, and biotechnological approaches as well as Natural hazards and their impact on the environment and health in Africa. The last subtheme was on the Mobilization of skills and pooling of scientific and technological resources in Africa. AMASA 2024 provided a forum for exchanging ideas, discussing future collaborations, and formulating recommendations for the development of health and fundamental sciences and their applications for the benefit of Africa through science.
