IAP Statement A Call for Action to Tackle the Growing Burden of Dementia

Dear IAP member academies,
We are very pleased to inform you that the Statement ‘A Call for Action to Tackle the Growing Burden of Dementia’ received endorsements from a majority of IAP for Health member academies. It has also just been published in the Journal of Prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease
(Vol. 5,issue 2): http://www.jpreventionalzheimer.com/3210-an-action-plan-to-face-the-challenge-of-dementia-international-statement-on-dementia-from-iap-for-health.html.
We would like to thank all those academies that endorsed the statement. The official launch date of the Statement has now been set as Thursday 05 July. Therefore, we kindly ask you to prepare any national activities for that day while respecting the embargo. To assist with your outreach efforts, please find attached a prepared Press Release which you can use in your own dissemination initiatives to present the Statement. In this regard, please feel free to also add a quote from a suitable national expert to the press release. According to the IAP dissemination plan, one of the actions proposed is the translation of the Statement into local languages for dissemination to policymakers, the press and to other stakeholders. We would appreciate if your academy could assist with translation. If you are able to provide a translation in time for the launch of 5 July, please let us know and we will post it on our website as part of the launch, acknowledging your efforts of course. Please find below the link to the Dropbox folder, where the Statement as a Word doc can be downloaded:

Please note that a translation of the statement in French has already been provided. Pdf versions of the Statement are also attached.
We will contact you again to follow up regarding any dissemination successes and other feedback in due time.
Thank you for your kind assistance and look forward to hearing from you.

With kind regards

Peter McGrath
